You May Be Here Because…

You hold it together well. You show up, meet expectations, and handle what’s in front of you. But internally, you feel anxious, stretched thin, or quietly exhausted.

Your mind rarely turns off. You replay conversations. You anticipate worst-case scenarios. You say yes when you mean no. You carry responsibility easily — but rest feels unfamiliar.

You’re not falling apart. You’re just tired of feeling on edge, overextended, or stuck in patterns that don’t seem to change.

Anxiety Therapist in Scottsdale, AZ

About Marissa Kuhl

My own experience with anxiety began after college, when I was juggling expectations, responsibilities, and the pressure to hold everything together. On the outside, I looked capable. On the inside, I felt restless, overwhelmed, and constantly “on.” I believed my worth came from being productive, dependable, and never needing too much.

Working with the right therapist changed that. Therapy helped me regulate my nervous system, set healthier boundaries, and separate my value from performance. I learned that slowing down wasn’t failure — it was healing.

That experience shapes the way I practice today. I help clients navigating anxiety, burnout, and chronic stress build steadiness, self-trust, and sustainable change — not by pushing harder, but by responding differently.

Why This Work is Personal to Me

My Approach & Values

01.

Authenticity

You don’t have to perform here. Many of my clients are used to holding it together while feeling overwhelmed underneath. Therapy with me is a space to be honest about what’s actually happening — and to show up as your full self, without pressure or pretense.

02.

Curiosity

I don’t rush to fix or label. Instead, we slow down and get curious about your patterns — especially the survival strategies that once helped but now feel exhausting. Curiosity helps us understand your nervous system, your relationships, and your stress responses without shame.

03.

Growth At Your Own Pace

Healing isn’t about pushing harder. Especially if you’re already burned out. We move at a pace that feels steady and regulated, building real capacity so change lasts — not just in insight, but in daily life.

04.

Empowerment

Therapy should strengthen your trust in yourself. My role isn’t to tell you what to do — it’s to help you understand your patterns, regulate your nervous system, and make decisions with clarity and confidence.

About Me

Outside the therapy room, I’m a wife, friend, daughter, dog mom, devoted Court TV fan, and someone who feels most grounded under an Arizona sunset. The desert has a way of slowing me down in the best way — wide skies, warm air, and space to breathe.

You’ll usually find me trying a new workout class, heading to Pilates or yoga (anything that regulates my nervous system), biking, exploring local restaurants, going to concerts, watching Bravo, or cheering on the Phoenix Suns. I genuinely believe in practicing what I teach — movement, rest, boundaries, and small rituals that keep stress from quietly building.

Becoming a therapist wasn’t accidental. I’ve always been the listener — the observer — the one people trusted with what they couldn’t say out loud. Today, I feel deeply grateful to do this work and to offer tools that don’t just sound good in theory, but actually create meaningful, sustainable change in real life.
